“I was first introduced to hearing aids as a patient. At the tender age of 36, I was diagnosed with profound hearing loss by a hearing healthcare provider in Raleigh, North Carolina. I was fitted with two in-the-ear hearing aids that instantly changed my life! There was no more straining to hear what people were saying, and no more trying to piece together a discussion to make sense of the conversation. Now I could relax and enjoy the pleasant sounds of music and conversation. I actually had more confidence and energy at the end of the work day.

In 2001, I stumbled upon the hearing aid profession. Miracle Ear in Charlotte, North Carolina, recruited me to join their team of hearing healthcare providers. They did an excellent job of mentoring my training, and I obtained my license in North Carolina in 2002.

In 2003, my wife and I were empty nesters and moved to sunny Florida to be closer to family members in the Fort Myers area. I had the pleasure of working with a number of different hearing healthcare providers in Southwest Florida, adding to my work experience. I also obtained my National Board Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences.

In May of 2007, I opened my own practice in association with Dr. Mark Montgomery, an otolaryngologist (ENT) with offices in Bonita Springs and Estero. This too was a great experience, adding more insight into the treatment of hearing loss and tinnitus.

In December of 2010, I began operating as an independent hearing aid clinic located in the Estero Medical Center, and the practice thrived! In August of 2016, my wife and I sold the practice and relocated back to North Carolina. This allowed us to reunite with our adult children, and most importantly, allowed us to be with our newborn grandchildren.

But, I’m not ready to retire! I have set up new clinic in Belmont, North Carolina. I do the hearing evaluations, consulting, and fitting of hearing aids. It is a joyous occupation helping people overcome their hearing disability and lead vibrant, active lives!”
